Leadership team coaching

To really add value to individuals within a leadership team through one to one coaching, it is fantastic if I also have the opportunity to work with the team as a collective group.

I also appreciate that sometimes coaching and leadership team development are separated - and I am equally as happy to coach individuals within a team that has sourced team development support for ‘away days’ elsewhere. I work with a handful of carefully selected partner coaches, when there is need for more than one coach to select from across a team.

I am not a trainer and do not have a set workshop format. As with my one to one coaching, I listen to the Founder/ CEO/ Head of People/ HR Director etc and understand their requirements and build sessions around this. I really enjoy working with leadership teams in growing businesses. Founder-led entities managing growth, businesses transitioning or adapting from founder-led to CEO following a merger, acquisition or investment – or the newly formed team of a high-growth start-up.

Key potential areas of delivery – over one/ two-day sessions:

  1. Values
  2. Vision
  3. Culture/ Behaviours
  4. Communication
  5. What makes an effective senior leadership team
  6. Enhancing internal team relationships
  7. Effective Meeting Management
  8. Developing a Team Charter for the senior leadership team
  9. Networking and Business Development skills
  10.   Group MBTI, Myers Briggs psychometrics
  11.  Brand and Marketing Communications

Clare’s approach and guidance helped us to explore important business decisions that we would develop further on our return to the office. Every one of us came back with a greater sense of collaboration, a clearer vision, and more energy to hit our overall goal. A truly fantastic experience that has become the foundation for a strong and inspiring team.

About me

I am pragmatic, calm and questioning. I aim to understand individuals in a complete sense. I am not looking for easy every-day coaching - I help facilitate change effectively and enable individuals and teams to cope with this, maintain momentum - and enjoy what they do (most of the time!)

She facilitated our group meetings very effectively ensuring that we got maximum benefit from each session. Clare uses some very innovative and inclusive techniques to ensure all members of the team can make a contribution.

Ed Moelwyn-Jones, Partner, Claremont Accounting

I can honestly say the whole team found the session useful as we learnt things about each other and ourselves – that have helped us to understand, engage and interact with each other more effectively as a team.

Lynn Ladbrook, CEO, Breast Cancer UK

Thank you for your support, you did a brilliant job in helping us, sharing with us interesting insights about team dynamics, facilitating our conversations and providing very valuable feedback.

Clare gave an engaging webinar which was both relevant and thought provoking.  As we all face challenges created by the Covid-19 crises, Clare’ positive outlook and practical guidance provided much needed encouragement and hope

Clare Downes was originally booked to deliver a face-to-face presentation at our People & Leadership forum on the 30th April. Clare adapted her content and delivered an informative webinar about the principles of coaching, online via Teams; Clare was an excellent speaker who encouraged attendees to be brave in the face of adversity, and to brave each day with a healthy dose of humour and empathy.

Jo Hemson (UK200 - legal and accounting firms)

In an unprecedented climate with people furloughed, uncertain and overwhelmed, the topic of personal development is a difficult one. Clare’s presentation was composed, thorough and incredibly professional - and I would recommend Clare as a speaker and a coach. Her experience and knowledge is very relevant for all businesses that are planning for this ‘new normal’ climate.

Working Together

Whether working with an individual, team or wider business; coaching or developing marketing strategy – these are the key words to explain how I approach working with you. Questioning is where it all begins and the aim is to enable you to deliver your objectives – with some focused listening and considered thinking, in between.
